Wegrow town is situated in central-eastern part of Mazowieckie Voivodeship. It is located within Mazowiecka Trough, by Liwiec River – the right tributary of Bug River, 80 km east of Warsaw, by the very important route connecting the capital of Poland with Drohiczyn and close to the road to Siedlce and to Wyszkow by Bug River.

Wegrow County includes 9 communes and there are 2 towns: Wegrow and Lochow and following rural communes Grebkow, Korytnica, Liw, Miedzna, Sadowne, Stoczek, Wierzbno within it. In the capital of the county – Wegrow, there are all essential for the district offices and institutions.

Info about the town

Wegrow is a lively, cultural, educational, administrative and economic centre of the region. The town is still the main supplier for nearby villages and selling market for agricultural products, being also an important working centre for local people. Its economic character is mainly agricultural and industrial based on private ownership. Main branches of industry are: agriculture and food processing, production of building materials, furniture and machine elements. Furthermore, there are lots of service, production, construction, commercial and gastronomy enterprises. The town has great and rich history as well as interesting monuments such as: The Lesser Basilica (Bazylika Mniejsza), The Post-Reformation Church (Kościół Poreformacki), The House of Gdansk (Dom Gdanski), The Evangelic-Augsburgian Church (Kościół Ewangelicko-Augsburski) and the Chapel on Evangelic Cemetery. During the year different fairs and cultural festivals are held, the greatest are: National Festival “Biesiada Weselna”, The Wegrow Days, The Mazovian Bread Feast. Moreover, many important sport events take place each year, e.g. Polish Cup in women volleyball and VII Polish Cup in Arm Wrestling.

About Wegrow County

Wegrow County is located in eastern part of Mazowieckie Voivodeship, bordering Minski and Wyszkowski Counties on the west, Ostrowski County on the north, Sokolowski County on the east and Ziemski Siedlecki County on the south.

Wegrow County is included into The Green Lungs of Poland area. Geographically it is a part of the Poludniowopodlaska Lowland. Along the north boarder of the county flows river Bug and within the county the river Liwiec forms a picturesque valley. Over half of Wegrow County is composed of protected areas. There are many proofs of historic richness of the region, mainly in the form of monuments.
