Approaching the needs of our citizens the project “The usage of Liwca Valley for tourist purposes” was finalised. The project got financial support within The Integrated Regional Operational Programme (IROP) Priority I. - Development and modernisation of the infrastructure to enhance the competitiveness of regions, Measure 1.4. – Development of tourism and culture. Within the investment the following actions were undertaken: desilting the reservoir with necessary hydrotechnic objects such as water intake for Krypy reservoir, a weir and spillway part. Within the renovation of the reservoir there were also carried out: recreating and compacting of the bank, covering slope and top part of the bank with sod.

River bank protection

Within the investment river bank protection below and above the weir at a distance of 15m was performed. Protection was done using peg palisade with sharp balks. Banks of the river were profiled to a slope 1:4 and sowed with grass.

Forming the ponds in the old river bed area

Old river bed was shaped into three ponds with slopes of 1:3-1:4. These slopes are protected by grass.

Fish passes

For migration to the top of the river of fishes and other organisms, fish passes (similar to natural) with the bottom protected by water vegetation and banks protected by grass were constructed. Bottom was protected by stones and gravel.

Water intake for fish passes was carried out in right-hand embankment of Liwca using a reinforced concrete culvert, body of the bank was recreated and compacted, slope and top part of the bank was covered with sod.

Developing of the area for recreation and tourist purposes

In order to customize the area for tourism and active leisure, near ponds and reservoir shore the following objects were built:

Piers

Two piers and ten fishing sites were built on the reservoir

Recreational path

The path (length: 2.36 km and width: 2.5 m) of Belgian block was built. The path leads around the reservoir and ponds no. 2 and 3. By the path 50 wooden benches and litter baskets will be installed.

Playgrounds

Within the investment two playgrounds of the following areas were built:

Ball games site

The playground was surrounded by fence of 1m high with a gate and wickets. By the fence the hedge was planted.

• For badminton – 2 items
• For volleyball – 3 items
• For basketball – 1 item

Picnic sites

Within the investment two round (diameter: 20m) picnic sites were demarked. Picnic sites’ accessories include table with benches and separate benches.

Car parks

Already existing car park (near the municipal camping) was modernised and two new car parks were built (near the reservoir and within the old river bed area), total capacity of car parks now equals 100 places.
